Meet the Maker: No. 308 Handmades

Happy, happy Monday, friends! We're so excited to introduce you to the next Maker in our series: Jordan of No. 308 Handmades.

We fell head over heels in love with Jordan's eye pillows this year (truly, it was love at first sight). They come in several adorable fabrics and are in a bunch of our current gift boxes!⁣

Basically, we love everything this girl creates and are so excited for you to meet her. Keep reading for our little Q & A with Jordan!

1. Tell us a little bit about your story! How did you get started?

I started No. 308 Handmades when I was getting my second degree at Michigan Tech. My best friend had seen a girl at yoga class with something similar and, knowing that I loved to quilt and sew, asked if I would make her one. She showed other people and I got enough requests that eventually I started to sell them. It was the perfect combination of getting to be creative, making friends happy, and earning a little extra money while working for my engineering degree. Oh, and it all started in apartment 308.

2. What do you love about the medium you work in?

I love sewing because it’s almost a weird power. You can sit down and make (almost) anything. From eyepillows, clothing, bags, blankets. It makes me so happy when friends ask me to make them something and I love giving something handmade as a gift. I think we’re really getting back into this age of loving handmade items and it’s so cool.

3. If you could offer any advice to other creatives who are just starting out, what would you say?

I read a quote the other day that basically said, the first things you make aren’t going to be good but keep going! I totally vibe with that. If you enjoy it, do it! And keep doing it!
